GENERAL
What is Oomble?
Drag. Drop. Sync! It is as simple as that. Oomble is an iTunes-like service to manage media for your cell phone . . . except better! Log into Oomble, and you’ll be able to access photos and music that you store anywhere on the Web or on your computer and drag and drop them right into your phone. When you hit “Sync” in Oomble, everything you drop into your phone icon on the Web will be downloaded right into your actual phone - completely wirelessly! There is absolutely no need to attach cables between your phone and computer. When Oomble finishes, simply navigate to your phone’s photo viewer or music player and you’ll find your photos and songs!
Whenever you hit “Sync”, you’ll also notice that new photos on your phone will automatically appear in your Oomble account. If you are a Flickr or Smugmug user, try dragging those photos right into the Flickr or SmugMug menu item. Also try deleting the photos off your phone through Oomble's interface - it’s a LOT easier than struggling with the keypad on your phone!
How much does Oomble cost?
IT’S FREE! However, please keep in mind that we do transmit text messages to wake up the Oomble application on your phone whenever you hit “Sync” and that the Oomble application does utilize the data network. Therefore, we do recommend that you obtain an unlimited data plan from your carrier to avoid increased charges..
How do I contact Oomble support?
Please email us at
support@oomble.com
BEFORE USING OOMBLE
Which web browsers does Oomble support?
Currently, Oomble only supports Internet Explorer, versions 6 and higher. We do apologize for this inconvenience. Firefox support is coming soon! Thanks for your patience.
Is my carrier and/or phone model supported by Oomble?
If you don’t see your phone model or carrier as an option when you sign up, please email us at
support@oomble.com and we will do our best to support your phone.
What services and/or features does my cell phone need to have?
Your cell phone needs to have Internet access and an activated text-message data plan. Oomble’s services won’t work if your phone cannot receive text messages or access the network.
Can I use Oomble outside the U.S.?
Sorry. Oomble is currently only supported in the United States.
Do I have to install anything on my phone?
Yes. During your first “Sync” experience, Oomble will send to your phone a text message with a link to Oomble’s application. Go to the link to install the Oomble application and launch it when asked by your phone.
Do I have to install anything on my computer?
No. There is nothing to install on your computer. However, Oomble does utilize a browser plug-in, so please make sure that you install it on your first login.
What are the terms and conditions of my use of Oomble?
If you sign up for an Oomble user account, you will be asked to agree to Oomble’s User Agreement, a copy which is available
here.
HOW TO
What are Media Sources?
Media Sources are your desktop applications such as iTunes and your online web services such as Flickr, SmugMug, Facebook and MySpace that you might already use to store your photos online or manage your music. You can access these services and applications directly through the Oomble interface and drag and drop their content right into your phone. Simply click on “Edit” to choose which applications and services you use.
How do I get content from my Media Sources into my phone?
Just click on the Media Source you want to access, for example, Flickr. Browse through your photos the same way you would if you were directly on Flickr. When you see any photos you want on your phone, simply drag and drop them into the “Photos” menu item under your phone. That’s it! Just press “Sync” to start the download process to you phone.
How do I resend a wake-up message to my phone if I didn’t receive it the first time?
Simply press the stop icon next to your phone and the Sync link will reappear. Then press the Sync link again.
How do I remove a photo or song that is queued for delivery to the phone?
Right-click on the item that is queued up and you will find a delete option.
OOMBLE ACCOUNT
How do I cancel my Oomble account?
You can just stop using your Oomble account. If you want us to formally terminate your account and remove your personal information from our records, please email us at cancellation@oomble.com. Please note that for data retention purposes, we may need to retain a record of your account for a period of time after a formal cancellation request, but we will remove your information from our normal records for active users.
How do I change my cell phone carrier, phone model or cell phone number?
Just go to your “My Account” link when you log into Oomble and change your information there.
How do I retrieve my password?
We don't keep a copy of your password for security reasons (we store it as a one-way hash), so we can't actually provide your password to you. We will send a link to the email that you registered with which will then allow you to provide a new password to your account. Click
here if you need to reset your password.
TROUBLESHOOTING
I just pressed Sync and nothing happened!
Please confirm that your user profile on your Oomble account has up to date and accurate information regarding your cell phone carrier, phone make and model and phone number. Please also confirm that you have activated the capability to receive text messages and data services on your cell phone plan. If this is all confirmed, please be patient - sometimes the delivery of text messages can take longer than expected particular depending upon the time of day. If you still don’t get it, you can go directly to the Oomble application on your phone and select “Start” from there. You won’t get the same types of real-time live updates on the Web interface, but the sync process will work.
